I created 'oh so quiet' in 2017 when I started selling my handcrafted jewellery. The quiet little valley in Matakana, New Zealand, where my home studio is based, was the inspiration for the brand name.
I moved to New Zealand from Belgium in 2011. Adjusting to a slower pace of life, I found the time to reconnect with creativity. It was during a two-day silver ring-making workshop that I fell in love with metalsmithing. A whole new world opened up and I quickly became hooked. Apart from attending some workshops where I learned the basics, like soldering, I am self-taught.
I use traditional metalsmithing techniques like sawing, filing, hammering, forging, soldering,... I love everything about the process, from designing till finishing pieces of jewellery.
Each piece is handcrafted by me, out of metal sheet and wire. Sterling silver is my preferred metal to work with. I like adding textures to my pieces and I often oxidise them to bring out the details.
You can find my work in Kleur gallery in Warkworth (New Zealand).I am currently preparing an Etsy shop where you will be able to buy my jewellery online.
Thank you for visiting 'oh so quiet'.
